Notice of Public Accuracy Test of Voting Equipment

To the qualified electors of the Bangor Township, Van Buren County, State of Michigan: Notice is hereby given that a Public Accuracy Test for the electronic equipment that will be used in Precinct 1 for the March 10th 2020 Presidential Primary Election is scheduled for Saturday February 29th 2020 at 9:00am in the Bangor Township Hall located at 32550 County Road 687 Bangor, MI 49013. The Public Accuracy Test is conducted to demonstrate that the computer programming used to tabulate the votes cast at the election meets the requirements of Michigan election law.

BAINBRIDGE TOWNSHIP LEGAL NOTICE OF BUDGET PUBLIC HEARING The Bainbridge Township Board will hold a public hearing on the proposed township budget for the fiscal year of 2020-2021 at the Bainbridge Township Hall, 7315 Territorial Road, on Monday, March 2, 2020 at 7:00 P.M.. The property tax millage rate proposed to be levied to support the proposed budget will be a subject of this hearing. A copy of the budget is available for public inspection at the Bainbridge Township Clerk’s Office. This notice is posted in compliance with PA 267 of 1976 as amended (Open Meetings Act), MCLA 41.412 and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). TO: The residents and property owners of the Township of Keeler, Van Buren County, Michigan and any other interested persons.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that in accordance with Michigan Public Act 359 of 1941, as amended, and Township Ordinance No. 12-06-2016 all weeds in excess of 15 inches in height within platted subdivisions, including vacant lots; on unplatted lands with a dwelling or other occupied building thereon; and on all parcels of land along improved streets in common usage, regardless of whether there is a dwelling located thereon; must be cut to a depth of 165 feet by May 1st of 2020 and must remain cut throughout the balance of said year by the owner or tenant in charge of the premises. In default thereof;

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Township of Keeler may enter the premises and cut the same as frequently as necessary during 2020 to comply with the foregoing regulations and may charge the cost thereof against the property owner and for collection may place the amount upon the next tax roll of the Township as a tax lien against the offending premises.

PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that any owner in default of the foregoing obligation to cut shall also be subject to a civil fine of up to $500 for each violation. Such cutting obligation shall not apply to fields devoted to growing any small grain or vegetable crop.

Proposal Section:

Van Buren County Road Millage Renewal: Shall there be a 0.9769 mil levy ($0.9769 per $1,000 dollars) of the taxable value on taxable property in Van Buren County for the next four (4) years (2020-2023) for the purpose of maintenance, repair and reconstruction of all public streets, avenues and roads in Van Buren County? It is estimated that the revenue generated on this proposal will be $3,320,282.00 in the first year of the levy.

Van Buren County Public Transit Millage Renewal: Shall the limitation on the amount of taxes which may be imposed on taxable property in Van Buren County be increased by 0.2471 mill ($0.2471 per thousand dollars of taxable value), for a period of four (4) years, 2020 to 2023, inclusive, for the exclusive purpose of providing funds for public transportation purposes, including the accommodation for seniors and disabled persons? It is estimated that 0.2471 mill would raise approximately $800,000 when first levied in 2020.

Van Buren County Veteran Services Millage: Shall the limitation on the amount of taxes which may be imposed on taxable property in Van Buren County be increased by 0.10 mill ($0.10 per thousand dollars of taxable value), for a period of four (4) years, 2020 to 2023, inclusive, as new additional millage, to provide funds for operations and services dedicated to veterans who have served honorably on active duty in the United States Armed Forces? It is estimated that 0.10 mill would raise approximately $339,744 when first levied in 2020.

Intermediate School District: Van Buren Intermediate School District Special Education Millage: Shall the current 3.3177 mills limitation ($3.3177 on each $1,000 of taxable valuation) on the annual property tax previously approved by the electors of Van Buren Intermediate School District, Michigan, for the education of students with a disability be increased by .9 mill ($0.90 on each $1,000 of taxable valuation) for a period of 5 years, 2020 to 2024, inclusive; the estimate of the revenue the intermediate schools district will collect if the millage is approved and levied in 2020 is approximately $3,730,173 from local property taxes authorized herein?

Coloma Charter Township

The ColomaCharter Township Board of Trustees will hold a public hearing on the proposed Parks and Recreation Grant Application to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at 7:00PM at the Township Hall, 4919 Paw Paw Lake Road, Coloma, MI 49038. The proposed project will take place at Washington Park and consist of building permanent bathrooms between fields 1, 2, and 3, resurfacing the multi-purpose track and constructing a multi-use field for pickleball. The draft application will be available for public inspection at the Township Hall during regular office hours and available at the Coloma Public Library.
