Holding bureaucrats accountable

Between Christmas and New Year’s Day, Gov. Whitmer’s administration quietly released an independent report showing her Unemployment Insurance Agency lost a staggering $8.5 billion in taxpayer dollars to fraud during the pandemic. The figure does not completely take into account $3.9 billion paid out to ineligible claims due to a state error in administering the federal Pandemic Unemployment Assistance program. Governor Whitmer’s administration has done such a terrible job at detecting fraud that a “Kimberly Kardashian” from Traverse City was able to scam the state for more than seven thousand dollars.
