As it gets later into August, thoughts naturally shift from the excitement of family vacations and summer fun to the inevitable moment when books open on desks in the classroom and school buses make stops in neighborhoods. For sports enthusiasts, the fall brings championship hopes for favorite teams on the gridiron, as these heroes awaken from their slumber with the chorus of their musical opus featuring the sounds of contact and whistles.

Well, fans of high school sports in our local area, but especially Hartford High School athletics, the long-awaited return to competitive action comes this week! Over two months after bidding farewell to another graduating class and spring sports seasons complete with memories for all who took part, fall sports will hit the ground running over this newest seven-day period, with each varsity sport highlighted on the calendar, competing in some way, shape, or form.
