THIS “KUTE KID” is… Kenzie Genther, she is the child of Cameron & Whitney Genther of Coloma, and she’s 1 year old! Kenzie has a 4-year-old sister, and her grandparents are Kerry & Darrin Genther, and Chad Blakeman and Regina Branham.

Scholarships available for students in health care

Lakeland Hospital, Watervliet Auxiliary will present two $2,000 scholarships to two graduating high school seniors who reside in the Coloma, Watervliet or Hartford school districts. Applicants must have a 3.0 grade point average and plan on pursuing a career in the health care field. Applications are available from high school counselors at Coloma, Watervliet or Hartford high schools. Applications may also be obtained at the Lakeland Hospital, Watervliet information desk on the 1st floor of the hospital, 400 Medical Park Drive. Applications must be postmarked by April 9, 2018.

WATERVLIET SOUTH SCHOOL CHARACTER AWARDS… At South Elementary they are working on putting their South School pledge into action each day. For December they focused on learning about being trustworthy. The “Trustworthy” awards for December 2017 included: Marlen Moron (2nd Grader in Mrs. Iliff’s classroom), Olivia Lurkins (1st Grader in Mrs. Cullitan’s classroom), Angel Cervantes (Kindergarten student in Mrs. Smith’s classroom), Jayden Kiernan-Norton (Kindergarten student in Mrs. Schmidt’s classroom), and Lianna Perez (Young 5s student in Mrs. Tag’s classroom). Little Panthers… small but mighty!


Purdue club  seeks scholarship applicants

The Purdue Alumni Club of Southwest Michigan is proud to announce their academic scholarship program for 2018-2019 to Purdue students living in Berrien, Cass and Van Buren counties. The scholarships are provided by Purdue Alumni and friends who have generously donated to support the next generation of Boilermakers in the Purdue Alumni Club of SW Michigan geographical area. This is the 20th year of the club’s scholarship program. More than 80 scholarships have been awarded in past years, totaling over $55,000. Applications are due by March 1, 2018 and will be awarded on or before May 1, for the 2018-2019 academic year. Students who have received other scholarships are eligible to apply.
