5th graders at North School are using technology to learn how to research
The 5th graders at North School are using technology to learn how to research and write persuasive presentations. They have been hard at work this week using Inquiry Space, an interactive component of the Wonders reading curriculum. The students have learned how to find and evaluate information, take notes, outline, and cite their sources. When the kids finish their research, they will write a persuasive speech that they will present to their classmates using visual aids

Thoughts of thankfulness
The Watervliet Athletic programs look like they have turned the corner again and are headed in a positive direction after a couple of tough years. Hard work and dedication from our players, stability in our coaching ranks, positive supportive parents, mix that all together and you have a pretty good recipe for success. This corner that we have turned comes with a great deal of THANKS.

School is off to a roaring start at Watervliet
New grades, new buildings for some, and lots of new faces. We’re excited to start the new school year with a strong group of teachers who has hired on to teach our students. What we are most excited about is the wealth of experience that many of the teachers that have been hired bring to Watervliet.

Chalk Talk: WPS Instructional Technology Happenings
It has been a busy start to my new position as Instructional Technology Coach for the district. I have been able to go into classrooms to help teachers and students with new technology and to create small mini lessons for the classes. The 5th grade students at North School have been the students I have worked with the most so far this year and they get so excited when they know Mrs. O is coming into class. I have been a teacher now for 20 years and it has been a transition to

Chalk Talk: Happenings at W-A-Y!!
What a decade it has been! Yes, that is correct, W-A-Y Watervliet High School is approaching the end of our tenth year! The W-A-Y model was adopted and put into place in the fall of 2011 and has been growing ever since. We are particularly proud of our implementation of career pathways. Guiding students to their high school diploma as well as assisting in their plan for their next steps forward in their life journey is a real privilege.
