THE CITY HAS ADOPTED THE STATE PLUMBING CODE BY ORDINANCE AT IT’S REGULAR COMMISSION MEETING ON FEBRUARY 14, 2017.

ORDINANCE 2017-1 PLUMBING CODE

THE CITY OF WATERVLIET ORDAINS:

Chapter 10 – Buildings and Building Regulations

Sec. 10-170 ADOPTION OF THE STATE PLUMBING CODE.

Pursuant to the authority of Public Act 230 of 1972, as amended, the Watervliet City Commission does hereby adopt the Plumbing Code as published by the State of Michigan, as the Plumbing Code of the City of Watervliet. All provisions are hereby referred to, adopted and made a part thereof, as if fully set out in this ordinance.

Sec. 10-171 ENFORCEMENT

The Watervliet City Commission shall designate, by ordinance, a qualified individual to serve as the plumbing official responsible for enforcement of the Code.

Sec. 10-172 PENALTY

Any person who shall violate a provision of the Plumbing Code shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of not more than $500, or by imprisonment not exceeding 90 days, or both such fine and imprisonment. Each day that a violation continues shall be deemed a separate offence.

Sec. 10-173 REPEAL.

Any ordinance or parts of ordinances that are inconsistent with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.

ORDINANCE 2017-2  ENFORCING AGENCY OF THE STATE PLUMBING CODE

THE CITY OF WATERVLIET ORDAINS:

Sec. 10-175. AGENCY DESIGNATED.

Pursuant to the provisions of the Michigan Plumbing Code, in accordance with Act 230 of the Public Acts of 1972, as amended, the Building Official of the City of Watervliet, or designee, is hereby designated as the enforcing agency to discharge the responsibilities of the City of Watervliet under Act 230 of the Public Acts of 1972, as amended, State of Michigan. The City assumes responsibility for the administration and enforcement of said Act throughout its corporate limits.
