Grace Christian School announces Open House

Grace Christian School (GCS) of Watervliet will be hosting its annual Open House on Tuesday, March 17 from 5:00-7:30 p.m. The Open House will start off at 5:00 with a complimentary Chili Dinner. Following the dinner, those families who are interested in enrolling for school year 2020-2021 will be given tours of classrooms and have opportunities to meet the staff of Grace Christian. Grace Christian is a Pre-K thru 12th grade school and is the only non-denominational Christian school in this tri-county area. They are now enrolling for Fall of 2020. STUDENTS OF THE MONTH Each month, the faculty and staff at GCS chooses a Junior High student and a High School student for the honor of “Student of the Month”. These students are chosen based on Christian character and citizenship. February’s students are 8th Grader, Kaylee Bradshaw and 11th Grader, Isaac Reeve.

Both Kaylee and Isaac are involved in the Student Council, Band, Choir, Drama, Academic Clubs, Worship Team and are excellent examples of what a Grace Christian Patriot should be.

PLEDGE IN ACTION AWARD WINNERS… at Watervliet South Elementary School are: (from the left) Cierra Woodson (Mrs. Iliff’s 2nd Grade), Lianna Perez (Mrs. Melton’s 1st Grade), Frankie Rose (Mrs. Cullitan’s 1st Grade), Landon Cortes-J (Mrs. Smith’s Kindergarten), and Claire Poupard (Mrs. Pratt’s Kindergarten). Teachers, staff, and students at Watervliet South School take the “South School Pledge” together every morning. The pledge focuses on building the character traits of trustworthiness, cooperation, respectfulness, responsibility, and doing your personal best. In the classroom, teachers work with their Little Panthers to identify, develop and encourage these positive character traits throughout the year. These five students were nominated for the “South School Pledge in Action Award” for consistently showing Trustworthiness in the classroom.

Tri-City students on LMC President and Dean’s lists

Lake Michigan College has announced the names of their students recognized for academic achievement during the fall 2019 semester. The President’s List includes students who achieved a 4.0 GPA at full-time status. The Dean’s List includes full-time and part-time students who achieved a 3.5 GPA or higher. There were 3,015 total students enrolled during the fall semester. Watervliet resident named to Michigan Tech Dean’s List

Michigan Technological University, in Houghton, Michigan, has released the Dean’s List for the 2019 fall semester. More than 1,880 students were named to the Dean’s List this past fall. To be included, students must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. Among the honorees is Chloe J. McCarthy, Watervliet, studying mathematics.
