“Kute Kids”… THESE “KUTE KIDS” are… Adelyn and Preston Tyler wearin’ the green for St. Patrick’s Day. They are the daughter and son of James and Jessica Tyler of Watervliet and granddaughter and grandson of Barb and Warren Tyler, Dan and Char Tyler, Val Garland, Ken and Becky Garland, Sandra Garland, Maxine Mock and Mike and Mary Shotts.


WATERVLIET MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS OF THE MONTH…for February 2017 are (from the left): Nathan Isbrecht, 7th-grade, son of Thomas and Kimberly Isbrecht; Jaylie Querfurth, 6th-grade, daughter of Jason and Julie Querfurth; and Jonathan Franklin, 8th-grade, son of Eric Franklin. WATERVLIET SOUTH SCHOOL CHARACTER AWARDS… At South Elementary they are working on putting their South School pledge into action each day. This month they are focusing on learning about respectfulness. The “Respectfulness” awards for February 24, 2017 were presented to: (from the left) Amara Dodge, Y5 student in Mrs. Wendt’s room; Daniella Romero, Kindergarten student in Mrs. Lanham’s room; Jonathon Isbrecht, 1st Grade student in Mrs. Collis’ room; Cael Morris, 2nd Grade student in Mrs. Dobbs’ room. Little Panthers… small but mighty!


HARTFORD HIGH SCHOOL’S “STUDENTS OF THE WEEK”… for the week of February 27 – March 3, 2017 are pictured (from the left): 9th Grade – Megan Nelson, student of Kim Kostrzewa & Troy Nelson; 10th Grade – Herik Garcia, student of Mario & Carolina Garcia; 11th Grade – Thayne Hanners, student of James & Tiffany Hanners; 12th Grade – Rosa Delgado, student of David Delgado & Rosa Mendez. To become a “Student of the Week,” students are nominated by teachers or staff for doing something positive. For example: getting a good grade on tests or homework, doing well in class participation or just being a kind person to another. Selected students will receive a certificate, their picture taken & posted in the H.S. front lobby showcase for the week and in the Tri-City Record newspaper. At the end of the school year, all Students of the Week names will be entered in a drawing for some cool prizes, treats or gift cards. Congratulations to these “Students of the Week” and keep up the great work!

Sunday, Mar. 26, 5 p.m. to closing “FRIENDLY FUNDRAISER” for Watervliet Public Schools Track & Field program at The Friendly Tavern in Coloma. 10-percent of sales benefit all track athletes at Watervliet for grades 7-12. Dine in or take out.
