MISSION TRIP SPONSOR… Kathleen Krieger, a junior at Lake Michigan Catholic High School and a Coloma resident, will be travelling on a mission trip with other students from LMC, Lakeshore, St. Joseph and Bridgman schools, with the St. Joseph Interact Club. The students will finish building a house in the Dominican Republic this summer. The Coloma Lioness Club is happy to help sponsor Kathleen with a donation for this trip and eagerly awaits a follow-up presentation upon her return. Special Lent & Easter season services at Salem Lutheran Church During the season of Lent Salem Lutheran Church will have midweek services on Wednesdays, beginning at 6:00 p.m. followed by a meal. During Holy Week, they will have services on Thursday and Friday, April 18 and 19, at 6:00 p.m., and Easter service will be Sunday, April 21 at 10:00 a.m. Salem Lutheran Church is located at 275 Marvin Street in Coloma. Coloma Legion Lenten Fish Fry every Friday through April 19 Every Friday during Lent, through April 19, the Coloma American Legion Post 362 is hosting a Lenten Fish Fry from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Fish dinners include au gratin potatoes, green beans, coleslaw, bread and coffee and cost $10 each. All you can eat fish dinners are $13. Children ages 4 to 12 are $5 each and children 3 and younger eat for free. Takeouts are available by calling 269-468-5501. Coloma American Legion Post 362 is located at 351 E. St. Joseph St. in Coloma.

Easter Egg Hunt in Hartford April 13 On Saturday, April 13 at 1:00 p.m. the Van Buren Sportsmen’s Club is sponsoring an Easter Egg Hunt in Hartford’s Ely Park. In the event of rain, the hunt will be held on Saturday, April 20 at 1:00 p.m.

Freshwater Community Church Easter Egg Hunt on Easter morning Sunday, April 21 at 10:00 a.m. the Freshwater Community Church is having an Easter Egg Hunt at Coloma Middle School following an 8:00 a.m. sunrise service. Everyone is invited. There will be lots of great prizes!

N.B. Historical Museum to host spring break music program designed for kids, April 4 Warm up your vocal cords and head on the over to the North Berrien Historical Museum on Thursday, April 4 at 1:00 p.m. to experience Carrying on the Folk Tradition, a spring break music program designed for children ages 6-12, although all ages are welcome. Fiona Dickinson, a Grand Rapids-based songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and music educator, will visit the Museum to speak on the tradition of folk music and its importance in building our cultural identity. She will bolster this discussion by demonstrating and passing around different instruments. The children will be asked to help Fiona rework a traditional folk song. Guests are encouraged to participate in whatever way they feel comfortable. A short craft activity will follow the presentation. No RSVP is required for this free program. OFFICER PRINCE ADDRESSES ROTARY… Officer Mike Prince, Hartford Police was the guest speaker on Wednesday, March 6 at the Paw Paw Lake Rotary Club. He spoke about his life as a police officer. He has worked for all the Tri-City police departments and told several stories about the different situations he has dealt with ranging from traffic violations to drug enforcement. Rotary meets Wednesday’s at 12:15 pm at Lakeland Hospital Watervliet.

Community Soup & Salad Supper on Friday, April 5 A Community Soup & Salad Supper will be held from 5-6 p.m. on Friday, April 5, at the North Berrien Senior Center, 6648 Ryno Road in Coloma. The menu includes soup, salad, bread, dessert and beverage. The public is invited. Cost for adults is $5; $3 for children up to 12 years of age; and free for children under three. Proceeds go to the H.O.P.E. Resources Food Pantry located at Coloma United Methodist Church. This month’s supper is hosted by Coloma Salem Lutheran Church.

2019 Blossomtime Coronation Ball reservations due April 8 The Blossomtime Festival has proudly been celebrating the Coronation Ball since the 1960s with its rich history celebrating the Coronation of Miss Blossomtime. This time honored tradition is open to the public and all ages are welcome. This year the Blossomtime Festival will be honoring Olivia Ellis from Bangor as Miss Blossomtime and the other 22 community queens from Southwest Michigan. Olivia is the 87th Miss Blossomtime in the Festival’s 113th year. All of the community queens will be introduced along with Mr. Blossomtime Sin’cere Taylor of Coloma and his court. On Saturday, April 20, the Coronation Ball will be held in Grand Upton Hall at Lake Michigan College from 6:30 to 11:00 p.m., doors will open at 6:00 p.m. The event is opened to the public and ticket prices are $45.00 each including dinner and dancing. Reservations are required for the Ball; please call the Blossomtime office for your reservations at 269-982-8016. The deadline for reservations is Wednesday, April 8. Only check or cash are accepted, no credit cards. Reservations made after April 8 are subject to availability.

Hospital Auxiliary hosts Swiss Steak Dinner in April Lakeland Hospital, Watervliet Auxiliary will host their semi-annual Swiss Steak Dinner Saturday, April 13, 2019 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the North Berrien Senior Center, 6648 Ryno Road Coloma. The cost to attend is $10 for adults and $5 for children 7 and under. Tickets are available at the Park Bench Gift Shop (located at the Hospital), the Senior Center or from any member of the auxiliary. All proceeds from the dinner will be used for Auxiliary projects.
