Coloma author announces new book; Bittner’s 70th title available locally, nationally, and on Amazon.com
Rosanne Bittner, from Coloma, has announced the publication of her 70th book, Logan’s Lady (Sourcebooks). The story is set in 1870 Kansas and is about a bounty hunter and a titled “Lady” from London, England, who lands in trouble when she comes to America to invest in gold mines and ranching. The book has received rave reviews, including from Publisher’s Weekly – “Bittner makes an implausible premise feel absolutely real … fast-paced and touching, this historical is not to be missed.”
PRESTIGIOUS AWARD WINNERS… CW Tech Robotarians, a FRC robotics team from Coloma, Watervliet, Michigan Lutheran, Lake Michigan Catholic, Bridgman and Eau Claire high schools, won the Chairman’s Award at a FIRST robotics competition in Shepherd, Michigan on March 30. The Chairman’s Award is the most prestigious award offered by FIRST robotics. It honors the team that best represents a model for other teams to emulate and best embodies the purpose and goals of FIRST robotics. Team 2959 earned the award through their outreach efforts, including a political campaign to support testing for the eye condition, convergence insufficiency. The team also promotes science and technology through demonstrations at different venues such as the Berrien County Youth Fair, senior living centers and the Maker’s Faire. The Robotarians won the award previously in 2016, the first team in Berrien County to do so. The team will now advance to the state finals in Saginaw from April 10-13. CW Tech also won the Entrepreneurship Award at their first district event in St. Joseph. The team is coached by Dr. Dale Quattrin, engineering and CAD instructor at Coloma High School.
Easter Egg Hunt in Hartford April 13 On Saturday, April 13 at 1:00 p.m. the Van Buren Sportsmen’s Club is sponsoring an Easter Egg Hunt in Hartford’s Ely Park. In the event of rain, the hunt will be held on Saturday, April 20 at 1:00 p.m.
