THESE “KUTE KIDS” are… the beautiful granddaughters of Bill and Vicky McDonald of Watervliet. Elaine Danneffel in the middle is the daughter of Jay and Valerie Danneffel of Holland and Emily Ruhno – on the left and Katie Ruhno – on the right – are the daughters of Dave and Kellie Ruhno of Canton, Michigan. Elaine is also the granddaughter of Jim Danneffel of Watervliet and Emily and Katie are the granddaughters of Georgia and Bob Otte of Coloma.

WATERVLIET SOUTH SCHOOL CHARACTER AWARDS… At South Elementary they are working on putting their South School pledge into action each day. Currently they are focusing on learning about responsibility. The “Responsibility” awards for March 29, 2017 were presented to: (from the left) Eathan Burnett, 1st Grade student in Mrs. Cullitan’s room; Hanna Ice, 2nd Grade student in Mrs. Martin’s room; and Alex Zuniga, Kindergarten student in Mrs. Griffith’s room. Little Panthers… small but mighty!


HARTFORD HIGH SCHOOL “STUDENTS OF THE WEEK”… for April 17 – 21, 2017 are pictured (from the left): 10th Grade – Margaret Avery, student of Keith & Angel Avery; 9th Grade – Kyle Manning, student of Kevin & Pam Manning; 11th Grade – David Dimas, student of David Dimas; 12th Grade – Leonila Hurtado, student of Pastor & Leonila Hurtado. To become a “Student of the Week,” students are nominated by teachers or staff for doing something positive. For example: getting a good grade on tests or homework, doing well in class participation or just being a kind person to another. Selected students will receive a certificate, their picture taken & posted in the H.S. front lobby showcase for the week and in the Tri-City Record. At the end of the school year, all Students of the Week names will be entered in a drawing for some cool prizes, treats or gift cards. Congratulations to these “Students of the Week” and keep up the great work!

Saturday, April 29, noon-8 p.m. “LIONS CLUB HOG ROAST” at Knights of Columbus Hall, 7454 Paw Paw Avenue in Watervliet. All you can eat buffet; tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance or at the door. Children 10 and under are free. Door prizes and silent auction included.

Thursday, May 4, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. “BAKE SALE” held by Lakeland Hospital Watervliet Auxiliary in the hospital at 400 Medical Park Drive. Items include Suzie’s Goodies and South Bend Chocolates.
