PUBLIC NOTICE: Burn Permits Open burning of yard debris and brush were suspended March 26 to make firefighters available for emergencies related to COVID-19 and to protect first responders. With more favorable fuel conditions occurring as Michigan moves toward the “green-up” of vegetation where plants and trees are leafing out and filled with sap, fire potential can now be regulated based on local fire danger ratings. These ratings are based on weather conditions, including anticipated wind and rain.

Effective today, 4/28/2020, residents are allowed to burn yard waste with appropriate notification. Please be cautious with the size of your fire, it must always be attended and be especially mindful of the smoke you are producing as it may be a health hazard to others. As a reminder, household waste and ANY building material still remains illegal to burn and will be enforced. Stay safe, stay healthy, stay home. Chief Dan E.
