To become a “Student of the Week”, students are nominated by teachers or staff for doing something positive. For example: getting a good grade on tests or homework, doing well in class participation or just doing a good deed. Selected students will receive a certificate, their picture taken & posted in the High School front lobby showcase for the week and in the Tri-City Record. At the end of the school year all Student of the Week names will be entered in a drawing for some cool prizes, treats or gift cards. Congratulations to these “Students of the Week” and keep up the great work!


VBT’s Moriah Rao wins Box Factory Emerging Artist Award

Van Buren Tech proudly recognizes Commercial Design student Kaitlyn Lyzenga (Bangor High School junior) and Print Media senior Moriah Rao (Watervliet High School senior) for exhibiting artwork in the Box Factory for the Arts 2019 Community Student Art Exhibition. Each student submitted artwork created at her home school but applied talent and training she has been developing through high school art classes and Van Buren Tech program training. At the opening reception for students and families on April 9, The Box Factory for the Arts awarded Moriah Rao 2D First Place which includes a $75 gift card to Michaels, plus the Emerging Artist Award which includes a $500 scholarship. Each year, Berrien RESA, The Box Factory for the Arts, and the Krasl Art Center team to present two spectacular student art shows, one for elementary students and one for middle school and high school students. These shows provide area students with opportunities to share their creativity, talent and skills by displaying artwork in a professional gallery exhibition viewed by hundreds of people from the surrounding communities. Students compete for multiple juried awards. Van Buren Tech congratulates Kaitlyn Lyzenga and Moriah Rao for demonstrating the value and joy provided by art programs at Van Buren County high schools and Van Buren Tech training in the Commercial Design and Print Media programs.

BHHS Class of 1949 70th Class Reunion The Benton Harbor High School Class of 1949 will be hosting their 70th Class Reunion July 27 & 28, 2019, at the Hilton Garden Inn, Benton Harbor. Saturday the 27th will start at 4:30 p.m. including dinner and a planned program and Sunday the 28th at 9:00-11:00 a.m. will be a Continental Breakfast. Classes from BHHS 1940s and 1950s are invited to attend. No formal invitations will be sent, but reservations and payment for all attending is required.
