Colton’s grandparents are Jerry & Cindy Birmele of Hartford and Terry & Kathy Runge of Watervliet. He is adored by aunts and uncles, Janell and Jeremy Parker of Lawrence, Jerrod Birmele of Hartford, Brennan Runge of Watervliet, and the late Lindsey Runge. With special love for Colton is his Godmother Jessica Earls of Hartford. LMC students earn spots on Spring 2018 President’s and Dean’s lists Lake Michigan College has announced the names of students recognized for academic achievement during the spring 2018 semester. The President’s List includes students who achieved a 4.0 GPA at full-time status. The Dean’s List includes full-time students and part-time students who achieved a 3.5 GPA or higher. C.H.S. Class of 1963 to hold 55-year reunion The Coloma High School Class of 1963 will hold its 55 year class reunion Saturday, August 18 upstairs in the banquet room at The Friendly Tavern in beautiful downtown Coloma. Please arrive promptly at 4:00 p.m. for a professional group photo that will be available for a cost of $21.00 which includes mailing and postage. The reunion will begin immediately afterward for an evening of renewed friendship. The specialized menu choices require a pre-order to The Friendly Tavern no later than one week prior to the reunion. The menu has been sent to class members where contact information is available. The cost of dinner, drinks and all purchases are the responsibility of the attendees. CPR class for babysitters offered in St. Joseph Community members are invited to attend a CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) class for babysitters on

Thursday, June 28, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., in the Frederick S. Upton Education Center at Lakeland Medical Center, St. Joseph, located at 1234 Napier Avenue. This is an American Heart Association course which is designed to teach the essentials of CPR. Participants will be taught how to save children and infants from choking, cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, and the proper use of an AED. This three-hour class will allow time to practice the skills needed for proper CPR. Upon completion, a certification card will be issued. Cost is $25 and includes booklet and certification card. Preregistration is required and participation is limited. Participants must complete the Babysitting with Confidence program prior to taking this course. Coloma High School student awarded Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Morgan Wagner of Coloma High School is one of 175 students who have been awarded scholarships as part of Comcast’s annual Leaders and Achievers Scholarship program in its Greater Chicago Region, which includes Southwest Michigan. The program is a one-time, $1,000 scholarship awarded to the best and brightest high school seniors for their community service, academic performance and leadership skills. “Leaders and Achievers Scholarship recipients exemplify leadership not only in academics but within their communities through service,” said John Crowley, Comcast’s regional senior vice president. “Comcast is honored to recognize their achievements and proud to support them as they continue their educational journeys.” Recipients were recognized at an awards ceremony recently at Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry. Since 2001, more than $28 million has been awarded to nearly 27,000 high school seniors across the country as part of the Leaders and Achievers Program.

Watervliet 40 Year Club announces date for 2018

The date for this year’s meeting of the Watervliet Public Schools 40 Year Club is Saturday, August 18, 2018. The location will be the Watervliet Middle School, 450 East St. Joseph Street, Watervliet. Social hour begins at 11:00 a.m., with lunch being served at noon. Anyone that graduated from, or attended the Watervliet Public School system is welcome to attend. Former school employees are welcome also. Besides the social hour and lunch, tours will be available for the Middle and High School buildings and grounds. Reservations are $15 per person, and are due by Friday, August 3, 2018.
