City of Coloma Public Notice Ordinance Updates The purpose of this article is to prevent, reduce or eliminate blight or potential blight in the City of Coloma Michigan. 1. Brush and/ or junk piles of unusable items must be removed within a seven (7) day period. 2. Front porches and decks must not be used for storage. Visible “junk” is a violation. The term “junk” shall include parts of machinery or motor vehicles, unused stoves or other appliances stored in the open, remnants of wood, metal or any other cast-off material, and boxes of undetermined contents, whether or not such materials could be put to reasonable use. 3. Non-functional recreational equipment must be repaired and maintained for its original purpose or removed. 4. Trash receptacles must be removed from view within 24 hours of pick-up service. 5. The existence of any partially completed structure unless such structure is in the course of construction in accordance with a valid building permit issued by the city and unless such construction is completed within a reasonable time. 6. In case of recreational vehicles providing temporary housing of guests or visitors on the premises: such use shall be permitted for a period not to exceed a total of two weeks. 7. Campers, pop-ups, R.V.’s motor homes or sport vehicles may be parked in a residential driveway for no more than ten (10) consecutive days. If stored there they must not protrude past front of house so that they do not block neighbors view. 8. The storage of non motorized items in a structure such as a carport, whose function is to house a motorized vehicles or item such as lawnmower or boat, is prohibited. Storage of junk, unmovable or unstable camping equipment must not be visible by neighbors. Fully enclosed garages, attached or detached and fully enclosed sheds are excluded and may be used for such storage. 9. CITY OF WATERVLIET PUBLIC NOTICE Starting on July 29, 2019, representatives of the city will be conducting routine home inspections of the water/sewer piping system for the purpose of observation and data collection. This data will be used to install, repair, and provide maintenance towards future projects involving the city’s water, sewer, and storm-water systems. This data is instrumental in helping to provide safe use of service while also ensuring that our system is well maintained. These inspections will be conducted during normal business hours (9am-5pm, M-F) and are planned to conclude by September 30, 2019. The City requests that property owners/tenants allow city representatives to enter their homes during this time as provided in Chapter 54, Article III, Division 2, Sec. 54-103 and Chapter 54, Article IV, Division 1, Sec. 54-173 of the Watervliet Code of Ordinances.
