HARTFORD HIGH SCHOOL “Students of the Week” for Sept. 16 – 20, 2019 are: (from the left) 9th Grade – Rylee Ackerman, student of Gary & Tammy Ackerman; 10th Grade – Bryan Cardoso, student of Atilano & Erica Cardoso; 11th Grade – Luis Barcenas Perez, student of Luis Barcenas & Maria Perez Gonzalez; 12th Grade – Joe Beebe, student of Teresa Smith. To become a “Student of the Week”, students are nominated by teachers or staff for doing something positive. For example: getting a good grade on tests or homework, doing well in class participation or just doing a good deed. Selected students will receive a certificate, their picture taken & posted in the High School front lobby showcase for the week and in the Tri-City Record. At the end of the school year all Student of the Week names will be entered in a drawing for some cool prizes, treats or gift cards. Congratulations to these “Students of the Week” and keep up the great work!

Honor Credit Union announces Lorie Owen as Regional Manager

Honor Credit Union is excited to announce the hire of Lorie Owen. Owen recently accepted the position of Regional Manager in Southwest Michigan. Owen’s region covers Honor’s member centers in Berrien Springs, Benton Harbor, Buchanan, Coloma, Decatur, Dowagiac, Niles, Paw Paw, South Haven, St. Joseph and Stevensville. Originally from Galien, Lorie Owen has lived in Buchanan since 1994 with her husband Jonathan, daughter Chelcie and son Cody. She is an active member and treasurer for the Niles Four Flags Snowmobile Club and the Berrien County Crime Stoppers. In her spare time, Owen enjoys fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, and camping with her husband or spending time with her four grandchildren. Owen has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Ferris State University and a master’s degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix. She comes to Honor with 18 years’ experience working in the credit union industry as an Assistant Manager, Branch Manager, and Regional Market Development Manager. As Regional Manager, Owen will lead the overall member experience team in Southwest Michigan and closely work with Honor’s Marketing, Real Estate, Business Services, Lending, and Operations team.
