10-04-2018 Jerry and Sharon Teeters celebrate 60th anniversary; Big Dan’s U-Pick’em final season

Community Soup & Salad Supper this Friday A Community Soup & Salad Supper will be held from 5-6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 5 at the North Berrien Senior Center, 6648 Ryno Road in Coloma. The menu includes soup, salad, bread, dessert and beverage. The public is invited. Cost for adults is $5; $3 for children up to 12 years of age; and free for children under three. Proceeds go to the H.O.P.E. Resources Food Pantry located at Coloma United Methodist Church. This month’s supper is hosted by St. Paul’s United Church of Christ – Watervliet.

Salem Preschool has openings Salem Lutheran Preschool, located at 275 Marvin in Coloma, has a few openings for its 3- and 4-year-old classes. The preschool provides a unique experience ministering to the whole person as a child of God, Bible and other stories, projects relating to a theme, songs, prayer before snack, manners, and good classroom behavior. “Chili Hop” Watervliet Airport Fly-in & 5K Run/Walk is Sunday, Oct. 21 Community members are invited to enjoy the fall fly-in and 5K at the Watervliet Municipal Airport on Sunday, Oct. 21 beginning at 10 a.m. The Chili Hop 5K Run/Walk will begin at 10 a.m. sharp. The fly-in will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the Chili & Chili-Dog Lunch served beginning at 11 a.m. There is no charge for admission, parking and hay rides. Planes will be arriving throughout the event. Watervliet Municipal Airport is located at 8560 Airport Drive, one mile north of downtown Watervliet on M-140. No pets are allowed at the fly-in.

Jerry and Sharon Teeters celebrate 60th anniversary

Jerry and Sharon Teeters were married September 23, 1958 in Watervliet by the Justice of the Peace. They have lived in the Hartford/Lawrence area since the early 1950s.

Bob and Aprille of Berrien Springs, Dan and Debbie of Watervliet, Pam and Larry McNew of Coloma and Kimberly Ferry of Sister Lakes. They have six wonderful grandchildren and eight beautiful great-grandchildren. To celebrate they went to dinner at Chili’s with their children.

Big Dan’s U-Pick’em final season

After 45 years in farming, Dan and Margo Klug are retiring. Big Dan’s U-Pick’em located at 65980 66th Avenue in Hartford will be closing as of October 31, 2018. Dan states, “It has been a great 45 years.” Margo commented, “I will miss all my customers.”
