“Kute Kids”… THIS “KUTE KID” is… Kyersten Long, 11, a contestant in the 2016 Watervliet Snow Prince and Princess Contest. Kyersten is looking forward to the experience again next year! She is the daughter of Shawn & Amanda Long and Angie Scheetz.
W-A-Y Watervliet High School Students of the Month
The W-A-Y program recognizes two students each month for their dedication to their educational goals. Although they feel that all of their students are awesome, they simply wanted to recognize two students each month for their accomplishments. Sometimes a little recognition can go a long way.
These students were selected by the W-A-Y staff in recognition of recent progress, attendance, communication, attitude and overall devotion to themselves and their educational goals.
The two students for November are Elizabeth Snider and Natasha Gardner.

Elizabeth Snider joined the WAY program in the fall of 2016 and has worked relentlessly for the past three months. She has earned over two credits in that period of time. She works from home and attends the lab several days a week. Her parents are Charlotte Vigansky and William Snider. She enjoys traveling, spending time with family and her girlfriend. She currently works at Q-doba and wants to attend Grand Valley State University to become an ER trauma nurse.
Natasha Gardner joined the program in the fall of 2016 as a senior and has worked consistently. She has earned 2.75 credits so far and Natasha is currently on track to meet the requirements for the January graduation. Natasha has earned nearly all necessary credits in the comfort of her own home. She is down to the last few credits! She lives with her grandparents, Michelle and Raymond Gardner. Natasha loves her job as a student cadet in a Lawrence elementary special education preschool room. She enjoys Netflix and baking. She plans on attending Lake Michigan College and major in Early Childhood Education. Great job so far Natasha!

WATERVLIET SOUTH SCHOOL CHARACTER AWARDS… At South Elementary they are working on putting their South School pledge into action each day. For November and December they are focusing on learning about and being trustworthy. The “Trustworthiness” awards for Dec. 7, 2016 were presented to: (from the left) Hadley Musik, young-5 student in Miss Konkel’s room; Caroline Weber, kindergarten student in Mrs. Griffith’s room; Lucas Wilder, 1st grade student in Mrs. Muth’s room; and Wyatt Wagner, 2nd grade student in Mrs. Martin’s room.
