NOTICE OF ORDINANCE AMENDMENT CHARTER TOWNSHIP OF WATERVLIET, MICHIGAN
TO THE RESIDENTS AND PROPERTY OWNERS OF WATERVLIET CHARTER TOWNSHIP AND ALL OTHER INTERESTED PERSONS: PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that after a second reading conducted during a regular meeting of the Township Board held on Monday November 23, 2020, and after a first reading conducted on October 19, 2020, the Township Board voted affirmatively to amend Sewer Ordinance No. 43, Section VII – Charges For The Use Of The Public Sewage Disposal System, Sub-Section (A) Rates and Charges. Below is a true and complete copy of the entire amendment.
A. RATES AND CHARGES.
1.) Sewer use charges with on-site water supply: Sewage use charges to each single-family residence, multiple family residence, apartment complex or trailers shall be in a flat amount of one (1) REU (Residential Equivalency Unit) per unit based on a schedule of sewer rate charges established and amended, from time to time, by the Township Board and adopted and posted in the Watervliet Charter Township Schedule of Fees. All other buildings or property, other than a single family residence, multiple family residence, apartment complex or trailer, shall pay the 1 REU monthly charge, regardless of zoning use or classification, as posted in the Watervliet Charter Township Schedule of Fees, plus a factor representing a ratio of sewage use by such class of buildings or other properties to normal, single-family residential use based on the usage of water as read from a water meter installed on the main line between the on-site water supply and the use. The Township Board may, at its discretion, exempt a commercial, industrial, institutional or municipal use from the water meter requirement if it can reasonably be shown that actual or anticipated sewage discharge will not exceed the normal discharge of a single-family residence. The per month charge, regardless of zoning use or classification, shall be charged every month, year around, whether occupied or unoccupied, apartments and trailer pads inclusive. 2.) Sewer use charges with connection to municipal water supply: Sewage use charges to all commercial, industrial, institutional or municipal uses connected to a municipal water supply shall pay the 1 REU monthly charge and, regardless of zoning use or classification, shall be charged a sewer usage fee based on a ratio of water usage as determined by the water meter readings of the municipal water supplier and billed accordingly.
