A political lapse in government appropriations

On September 19th, House Republicans passed a clean, non-partisan funding extension to keep the government open and operating. Sadly, Senate Democrats were demanding the addition of $1,500,000,000,000 in spending or they would vote to shut down the federal government. On the evening of September 30th, Senate Democrats filibustered the 24-page continuing resolution for the second time.
