“Cash for a Splash” luncheon & style show adds more than $9,000 to fundraising goal

Members of the community put on the Cash for a Splash Luncheon & Style Show on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023 at the Paw Paw Lake Yacht Club. Event Co-Chairs Lois Phillips and Darlene Hajduk shared at the conclusion of the event that over $9,000 was raised towards installing a splash pad in Randall Park. Estimated cost for the addition to the park is $177,000.

Coloma Mayor Marsha Hammond said, “The City could not be more grateful for the community members that put on this special event. The event was very fun and truly showed our special community at its finest. There are so many people to thank for making the event a reality!”

Both businesses and individuals contributed to the door prizes, raffle items, silent auction items, and ticket sales resulting in $9,000 being raised. Donors to the event included Arclight Brewery, Matt & Jamie Balkin Family, The Bend Bar, Blackbird Waterhouse, Rosanne Bittner, Kimberly LeBeau Caplea-Cabi, Coloma Harding’s, Easy Street Inn, Eddies, The Friendly Tavern, Fruit Acres, Gordon Food Service, Hair Innovations, Hot Spot, Hub Central 185, Julie’s Hair Salon, Tamara Kling-Mary Kay Rep., Carolyn Hutchinson Lill, Local 3, Mattson’s House of Décor, Sue Nilson, Jeff & Lois Phillips, Pizza Hut Coloma, Rite Aid - Coloma, Roma in Coloma, JoAnn Rush, Sally’s Greenhouse, Sidetrack II Café II, Subway Coloma, Waterfront House of Framing & Fashion, and the Pink Hat Ladies, as well as others. Special thanks to the Paw Paw Lake Yacht Club for use of the facility for the event.

Hammond added, “I can’t tell you how much this means to me. It is extra special since most of the group that put on the event don’t even live in the City. They simply believe in giving back and being a part of a community! Our community is truly blessed to have this type of talent and generosity in it!”

Coloma City Commissioner Jamie Balkin shared, “On behalf of the City of Coloma, we can’t thank everyone enough for their support of the event and the Splash Pad Project.
