Coloma Charter Township Board approves landfill expansion request at regular monthly meeting

The Coloma Charter Township Board met on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2025, at the Coloma Charter Township Hall. Township Supervisor Ken Parrigin called the meeting to order at 7 p.m.
The board was informed of activities in the township that occurred in the past reporting period. Trustee Bryan Duffield reported that the stump of the large tree by the cemetery sign, which was cut down in June, has been ground out. Supervisor Parrigin shared that the new North Berrien Fire Rescue fire truck will be arriving very soon. He also announced that a new person will be appointed in the near future to replace Bob Howell, who is retiring from his position with the North Berrien Fire Rescue board.
Coloma Township Police Chief Wes Smigielski reported that the police department investigated 119 complaints, made 18 arrests, handled 51 traffic stops, issued 45 traffic warnings, and issued 12 tickets during the month of July.
