Coloma High School band students compete in solo and ensemble at district level

On Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023 Coloma High School had several Comet band students perform at MSBOA District 6 Solo and Ensemble Festival. These students prepared a solo and in a couple cases, a duet to perform for a judge and receive a rating. A Division I rating is considered superior (like the grade of an A) and a Division II is considered excellent (grade equivalent is a B). A Division I or II also means they earn a performance medal.

DIVISION I RATING… Coloma High School Band students receiving a Division I rating at the recent MSBOA District 6 Solo & Ensemble Festival were: (from the left) Emily Abraham and Alyse Grenon - flute duet; Isabella Kiser - trombone solo; Liliana Contreras - clarinet solo.

Coloma Community Schools is proud to say that all of their students received either a Division I or a Division II rating! Those who received a Division I have qualified for the state level of Solo and Ensemble where the judging is much more rigorous.

The following students represented Coloma well at district level; receiving Division I ratings were Emily Abraham and Alyse Grenon - flute duet; Isabella Kiser - trombone solo; Liliana Contreras - clarinet solo. Also competing, and receiving Division II ratings, were Brooklyn Nord and Isabella Kiser performing a trumpet/trombone duet and Grayson Coulter, with a trombone solo.
