A night to remember: Comets claim rivalry victory under the Friday night lights
There is something special about Friday night football in a small town.
The lights shine a little brighter, the stands fill a little faster, and the excitement carries throughout the community. But when the Coloma Comets and Watervliet Panthers meet on the gridiron, it becomes more than just another football game. It’s a rivalry filled with tradition, pride, and generations of memories.
Friday, Oct. 16, 2026, was no ordinary night for the Coloma community. With Senior Night, Rocket Football Appreciation Night, and the highly anticipated rivalry matchup all coming together, the stage was set for a memorable evening. And the Comets made sure to deliver, defeating the Watervliet Panthers 39–26 in front of their hometown crowd.
