COVID cases continued to rise for seven consecutive weeks; 25% of news cases are children
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reports new cases slightly down, at just over 5,000 new cases and 27 deaths as of Monday’s press release. The numbers include 35 breakout staff and student cases detected in nine Michigan schools located elsewhere in the state, the nearest to Southwest Michigan being in Jackson. The number of COVID cases in Michigan has been rising for seven weeks in a row. Roughly 25% of new cases are kids, defined as newborn to age 17.
