Eli’s sad loss
About 1100 years BCE, in a town called Shilo, there was a High Priest of Israel named Eli. He had two sons, Hophni and Phineas. Hophni and Phineas were bad actors. They acted immorally, with gluttony, and with little concern for the sacrifices of the Tabernacle for which they were responsible.
