Frederick E. Reeves Jr., 85 of Coloma, passed away peacefully at his home with his family close by on April 9, 2026.
Fred was born on April 10, 1941, to Frederick and Winifred Reeves in Owosso, MI. As a child, he loved fishing, baseball and being a Boy Scout. He graduated from Coloma High School in 1959 and went on to the Air Force, serving from 1960-1964. Fred worked at the paper mill, Brown & Williamson Tobacco, Whirlpool, Coloma Police and the Berrien County Sheriff Department as a patrolman, detective, lieutenant and jail guard, retiring in 1999.
He was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Police Post #96, American Legion Post #49, Knights of Columbus Council #4055, former auxiliary member of Lakeland Healthcare and former city commissioner of Coloma.
Fred is survived by his wife, Carol (Appel) Reeves, sisters Jayne Reeves and the late Sharon Jo Bale, daughters Kelli (Chris) Hays, Stacy Reeves and son Jason (Tara) Reeves, and step-children David Smith and Donnell Smith. Also surviving are grandchildren Cameron and Audrey Schmitt and Lettie Reeves and step-grandchildren Eric and Taylor Smith.
He expressed how grateful he was for all the love and support he has had throughout his entire life from his loving family and steadfast friends. He loved them all very much.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 16 at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma with visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
