Honoring Law Enforcement
Last week, Michigan celebrated National Police Week. I was proud to start the week by joining my colleagues in passing House Resolution 100 that declared Police Week in the state of Michigan. In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15th as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15th falls as National Police Week. During this time, we as a nation pay special recognition to law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of their communities.
