Is there hope?

If there were such a thing as a “Hope-Meter” that could be used like a temperature thermometer, it might help us understand why so many people seem to be so discouraged right now. Results would be read out in terms of degrees of hope rather than in degrees of Fahrenheit. Push the button and get results like, “Joyfully hopeful,” “Very hopeful,” “Somewhat hopeful,” “Losing hope,” “Losing hope rapidly.” Red zone might be reported as, “Lost all hope,” “Despairing,” or “Desperate for intervention.”
