JANE G. WETZEL

Jane Gay Wetzel was the youngest of nine children and was preceded in death by her parents: Melvin and Agnes (Harreld) Smithley; eight siblings and three of her children.

Surviving her is husband, Larry Wetzel and her children: Stephanie Warford, Bob (Susie) Warford, Chuck Warford, Edwin Guthrie (Geoff), along with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jane lived in Hartford for most of her life and attended Hartford High School.

Jane found great joy in reading and gardening. She possessed a remarkable green thumb, always filling her home with beautiful plants. She found peace in the quiet moments of nature, watching her flowers bloom and listening to the birds. Jane also shared an immense love for animals, caring for them with her entire being. Above all, her greatest accomplishment in life was raising her five children and loving her family deeply, fiercely, and with her whole heart. She will be greatly missed, forever.

Jane died on Sept. 18, 2026. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
