Well, we’ve got a few extra eyes on us this week, don’t we?

If the Tri-City Record doesn’t normally show up in your mailbox each Thursday, I’m Josh. The editor. I’m 30 years old, I grew up around here and, in a turn of events, I recently bought my hometown newspaper.

Welcome.

If you’re one of our regular readers, welcome back. You already know the ropes. No matter who you are, I hope you’re noticing the little extra pep in our step this week.

I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about what I wanted this particular edition to be. It’s our fall mass mailing, there’s a new look sprinkled throughout these pages, and we’re celebrating National Newspaper Week.

Under all that jazz, I wanted it to celebrate something we don’t often do. Slow down. I hope this gives you an opportunity to do so for a little while.

Life seems to move about 700 miles per hour lately, and I’m certainly guilty of trying to keep up with it. There’s always another thing to check, another place to be and another something begging for our attention.

I’ve learned that even owning a weekly newspaper does not exactly encourage a slower pace.
