Keeler Township re-establishes special assessment for Big Crooked and Little Crooked lakes
Keeler Township Supervisor Don Blackmond called the Sept. 1, 2026 township business meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. All board members were in attendance.
A public hearing was held at the start of the business meeting for the plans, district, and cost estimates of Big Crooked and Little Crooked lakes’ weed and aquatic plant control for the purpose to reapprove the special assessment district for 2026-2030. The hearing was called to order at 7:04 p.m. They received fifty-three percent of signatures from the people in the district.
There was a resolution to approve the re-establishment of the district and to spread the cost; proposed cost per parcel was $86.79. One resident stated, “It is important to the health of the lake.”
The resolution was approved and the special hearing was closed at 7:18 p.m. There will be another public hearing October 6 at 7:00 p.m. to discuss placing the cost on the 2026 tax roll.
