Learning the history of your home at Hartford Public Library

The Van Buren Regional Genealogical Society (VBRGS) Genealogy Room at the Hartford Public Library can be a great resource for anyone interested in learning more about the property on which they reside. Whether someone lives in a home in town or on acreage in the township the genealogy room should be the first place they contact if they wish to learn more about their home and the people who previously called your place “their home”.

The genealogy room volunteers refer to books, websites, and newspapers to assist patrons who have these questions. They can also recommend free websites and other sources for finding this information. Stop into the genealogy room, email vbrgs@yahoo.com or call 269-588-5103 for assistance or any other questions relating to family or local history.

“The VBRGS Genealogy Room volunteers enjoy connecting with the community and sharing the vast book, map and photo collection as well as their knowledge gained through helping others,” says Joyce Beedie, President of the VBRGS.
