January brings new beginnings
To the Coloma Schools community:
Despite being in the middle of the school year, January brings many new beginnings. In education, both starting and finishing a project, initiative, activity, unit or sport demonstrates an ability to try. All we ask, every day, is that students show up and believe in their ability to achieve and succeed. Sometimes that looks like understanding an assignment immediately and others it looks like asking for help to meet a goal. As we begin this new calendar year, I encourage everyone in our school community to use their new beginning as an opportunity to thrive in and out of the classroom.
In January, educational communities have an opportunity to acknowledge their Board of Education during School Board Recognition Month. For those that do not know, a Board of Education is a group of elected community members who volunteer their time to oversee the best interests of a school district. In Coloma, we thank each of our board members for their commitment to our students, teachers and staff members. Our ability to provide the best education starts with their commitment and we are grateful for the support they provide.
One of the areas they help govern is the finances of the district, including when we need to move forward with a bond election so that we can make critical improvements that cannot be covered by our general fund. To that end, this May, the district will be holding a bond election to update and improve facilities. Please be on the lookout for more information.
As we close the book on 2022, I want to extend my gratitude to our students, parents, teachers, staff and community for making last year one to remember. We will always look back fondly and remember the partnership you eagerly entered with us to bring great educational opportunities to our students. It is my hope that in 2023 we continue to find ways to keep the growth, development and academic achievement of our children top of mind.
