Hartford Public Library news
The Friends of the Hartford Library will hold its annual “Mother’s Day Flower Sale” on Saturday, May 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. They will have hanging baskets and fresh floral bud vases for sale. Make a lovely trinket box for Mom on Tuesday, May 3 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Hartford Public Library.
The library has Internet hotspots available for circulation. They require a valid driver’s license or ID, library card and valid phone number for identification. The hotspots are great for a fast connection to the Internet.
Watervliet District Library news
The Watervliet library is holding monthly Friends Group informational sessions the first Wednesday of each month, at 6 p.m. Everyone interested in forming a Friends of the Library group or in volunteering to support library programming and out-reach events is encouraged to attend. The upcoming meeting is May 4.
The 3rd Monday Book Club will meet May 16 at 7 p.m. to discuss the book “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” by Taylor Jenkins Reid. Copies are available at the library, in large print, audio and standard print versions of the title.
The Seed Library will continue to be offered through the month of May. Seed packet pickup is limited to five packs per person, per week. Many varieties are still available.
Teen and pre-teen take-and-make packets are being assembled to create your own t-shirt bracelets, and will be available for the month of May.
The public is invited to a special event in recognition of area veterans. Local veteran and VFW member Corky Openneer will share stories and memories of military service, and will provide details of opportunities locally available for veterans. This program will be of interest to any area veterans and their families, as well as anyone interested in local history. Please contact the library to RSVP.

Coloma Public Library news
Coloma Library is celebrating Michigan Financial Wellness Month with Smart Money Michigan Kids Read 2022! While supplies last, kids can pick up a copy of the book “Count on Pablo” by Barbara DeRubertis, a paint-your-own piggy bank craft, and other goodies compliments of Honor Credit Union. Smart Money Michigan Kids Read! is sponsored by Michigan Credit Unions.
Need help with homework or a quiet place to focus? Students can come to the Library from 4-5 p.m. on Wednesdays for Study Group! Grades 6-12 welcome.
School-aged children are invited for individual reading sessions with certified therapy dogs, Margaret and Pailey in the Children’s Room. Sessions are every other Thursday. Check the calendar on the Library’s website for current schedule. Pre-registration is preferred, but walk-ins will be accommodated when possible. Masks are required for the safety of children and the dogs with exceptions for children medically unable to wear masks.
The Coloma Public Library Book Club meets every other Thursday in the Community Room at 4 p.m. The public is welcome to participate. To enquire about the reading list, please contact the library for details.
