Watervliet District Library news


The special event in honor of area veterans, scheduled for May 23 for Watervliet District Library, has been postponed. Look for future announcements for rescheduled dates and times.

Pinteresting, the library’s adult crafting program, will be held Monday, May 23 at 6:30 p.m. The May project will be felt poppy flowers; registration is required. The program is being held in-person but packets are also available for those unable to attend.

Friends Group and volunteer events discussions are being held the first Wednesday of each month, at 6 p.m. These informational sessions include upcoming library needs and other methods of volunteer library service. Any members of the community interested in supporting the library are welcome to attend.

The 3rd Monday Book Club will meet May 16 at 7 p.m. to discuss the book “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” by Taylor Jenkins Reid. Copies are available at the library, in large print, audio and standard print versions of the title.

Seed packets are available through the end of May, limit of five packs per person per week.

Teen and pre-teen take-and-make packets are being assembled to create a t-shirt bracelet, and will be available for the month of May.

Coloma Public Library news


Students that need help with homework or a quiet place to focus are invited to the Coloma Public Library from 4-5 p.m. on Wednesdays for their Study Group. Grades 6-12 welcome.

School-aged children are invited for individual reading sessions with certified therapy dogs, Margaret and Pailey in the Children’s Room. Sessions are every other Thursday. Check the calendar on the Library’s website for current schedule. Pre-registration is preferred, but walk-ins will be accommodated when possible.

The Coloma Public Library Book Club meets every other Thursday in the Community Room at 4 p.m. The public is welcome to participate. To enquire about the reading list, please contact the library for details. The schedule of meetings is found on the website program calendar.

Teens can sign up to receive a monthly box of surprises to keep along with a specially selected library book to read and return. Call, email, or message through Facebook for more info.

Craft kits will be available in the lobby on Thursdays at 10 a.m. while supplies last. Kids can make a craft in the Children’s Department or take it home. Kits designed for preschool to school-aged children.

Calling all crafters to Chapel Hill Church

Chapel Hill Church at 4071 Naomi Road in Sodus is hosting a craft day on Saturday, May 21. Their event “Bloomin’ Crafternoon!” is an opportunity for anyone to shop and or sell items from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Those who want to downsize their craft room – scrapbooking, sewing, knitting, and stamping, can rent an 8-foot table for $15 from which to sell items.
