Watervliet District Library news

American Red Cross Blood Drive

The Watervliet District Library will be hosting a blood drive in their community room on Monday, Jan. 9, from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Donating blood makes a big difference in the lives of others. Celebrate National Blood Donor Month by scheduling your donation online at www.redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-Red-Cross.

Take-Home Sensory Bins

New take-home sensory bins are now available for two-week checkouts. These bins are great for toddlers. Themes include mitten counting, holiday fun, and hot cocoa. Bins are also available for play at the library.

Spilling the Tea Fiber Arts Group

Join others in the community room at the library with your knitting or crocheting projects, and tea will be provided. Fiber Arts Group will meet on Friday, Jan. 13 from 1-2:30 p.m.

Adult Reading Program

The Adult Reading Program will begin on January 9 and run through March 4. Stop by the library to complete a fun bingo board, and enter to win one of five great prizes.


Coloma Public Library news

Local author Meet and Greet

Join local author, Rebekah Williams to learn about the inspiration for her newest book Keep on Walking. Rebekah will answer questions and provide an activity to promote one’s inner peace. Event will be on Saturday, Jan. 14 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the main area of the Coloma Public Library.

Toddler/PreK Story Times

Staring Jan. 10 there will be interactive story times for toddlers and Pre-K age children with Miss Sara on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.

Book Club

The public is invited to join the Book Club meetings every other Thursday at 4 p.m. in the Community Room. The next meeting is Jan. 19. The selected title is Black Cake by Charmaine Wilkerson.

Paws for Reading

School-age children are invited for 15-minute individual reading sessions with certified therapy dogs, Margaret and Pailey. Next session is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 11 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Pre-registration is preferred, but walk-ins will be accommodated when possible.
