Coloma

View entries in the Art For A Cause competition in the Coloma Public Library’s Community Room on Saturday, Feb. 11 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. The exhibit is art entries created by youth who have experienced Foster Care. For further details about the contest, contact Eleanor Marquis at marquise@michigan.gov.

Scientific discovery and family fun on Thursday, Jan. 26, Steam Day, from 4 to 5 p.m. at the library.

Interactive story times for toddlers and Pre-K age children with Miss Sara are on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.

The public is invited to join the library’s Book Club every other Thursday at 4 p.m. in the Community Room. The next meeting is Feb. 2. The selected title is Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah.

School-age children are invited for 15-minute individual literacy sessions with certified therapy dogs, Margaret and Pailey. Next session is Wednesday, Feb. 1 from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. Pre-registration is preferred, but walk-ins are accommodated when possible.

Meet caregivers and new friends during monthly networking group for homeschooling families. Next meeting of Homeschool Club is Thursday, Feb. 16 at noon.

Hartford

Next Wednesday, Feb.1 the Hartford Public Library is having an “Indoor Snowball Competition” for children from 4 to 5 p.m. Kids will have fun tossing a soft white snowball at each other.

February activity bags will be ready for pick-up on Monday, Jan. 30. Each bag contains a free book, a craft, coloring sheets and fun challenges. The activity bags are available for children ages babies to Pre-K, Pre-K to Kindergarten, First to Second grades and Third to Fourth grades.

The Book Club book for February is “The Only Woman in the Room” by Marie Benedict. It is a historical fiction story of Hedy Lamarr, screen actress but also scientist during World War II. The Book Club meets every third Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the community room. Book Club discussions are open to everyone.

Watervliet

There is still time to sign up for the Adult Reading Program. Stop by the library anytime to pick up a bingo board and start earning entries to win one of their cozy prizes. Prizes include $50 Harding’s gift card, a Book-of-the-Month subscription, an electric blanket, and a comfy hoodie. All bingo boards need to be turned in by March 4. Prizes will be awarded on March 6.

Join the 3rd Monday Book Club for great books, and fabulous conversations! The club meets at 6 p.m. This month’s book is – The Secret Keeper by Alka Joshi. Copies are available at the front desk.

Do you enjoy crafting? Do you want to meet new people? Why not join the library’s Adult Pinteresting group? All supplies are provided; please register in advance. The next project will be on Feb. 27, making shamrock string art.
