Renovation project, library closed for 2 weeks
The Watervliet Public Library will be preparing to shut down for two weeks while they make several updates to the library. They will be closing on Monday, March 20. And plan to reopen on Monday, April 3, assuming no surprises, etc. Some of the updates include installing new carpets, shelving, and much more. The staff appreciates everyone’s patience while they work through these changes.
The library’s seed library returned on Monday, March 6. Interested gardeners are allowed to pick up free seeds while they last. A variety of fruit, vegetable, flower, and herb seed packets will be available.
3rd Monday Book Club
Great books and fabulous conversations! The book club is now meeting at 6 p.m. The public is invited to join by asking for a copy at the front desk. This month’s book is – Tobacco Wives by Adele Myers.
Spring Brick Blast
Honor a friend or loved one with your $75 donation towards an engraved brick for the Legacy Walk. The library’s Legacy Walk is located throughout the Mary Tatter Garden Park. Submit your brick engraving form by April 29 for fall placement.
Coloma Public Library news
A big book sale is happening at the Coloma Public Library on Saturday, March 11 to coincide with all the fun activities happening throughout Coloma. The book sale will be held in the book store from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Meet Coloma author, Robert Lawson and learn about his debut novel, “Trial and Error, Life of Depression,” on Saturday in the main area of the library.
For the kiddos
Kids, take a “stuffie” to spend the night at the library! Pictures will be taken of the mischief they got up to in the night. Drop-off is Friday, March 17, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. and pick-up is on Saturday the 18th, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Interactive story times for toddlers and pre-K age children with Miss Sara is weekly on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.
Book Club
The public is invited to join the Book Club every other Thursday in the Community Room. Next meeting is March 16 at 4 p.m. The selected title is Thank You for Listening by Julia Whelan.
Paws for Reading
School-age children are invited for 15-minute individual literacy sessions with certified therapy dogs, Margaret and Pailey. Next session is Wednesday, March 15 from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. Pre-registration is preferred, but walk-ins are accommodated when possible.
Homeschool Club
Meet caregivers and new friends in a monthly networking group for homeschooling families. Next meeting is Thursday, March 16 at noon.
