Bainbridge Supervisor Jerry Jollay retires with 12 years in office and more than 30 years of community service
By Angela Stair
Bainbridge Supervisor Jerry Jollay led his last Township Board meeting on Monday, November 14. Residents, family and friends attended the meeting and stayed for cake and juice afterwards to celebrate his retirement.
Supervisor Jollay began the meeting by stating that he was going to break with the tradition of asking someone from the audience to ring the school bell on the Township Hall seven times to indicate the beginning of the monthly Board meeting, and ring it himself as a farewell. He led the Pledge of Allegiance from the back of the room with six of his 14 grandchildren; then he went forward and opened the meeting.
For over thirty years Jollay has served the people of the community in one capacity or another. He was on the Coloma School Board for 16 years, was the Superintendent of Countryside Charter School for five years and has spent the last twelve years serving as the Bainbridge Township Supervisor.

“Now I just want to be able to spend more time with my grandchildren and work the farm,” Jollay said. “I even have a boat I bought over six years ago and have had it in the water only twice in those years. Maybe I’ll have the time to use it now.”
The Township Board of Trustees presented Jollay with a letter of appreciation, read by Treasurer Nancy Weber, that stated how much he and the work he did on behalf of the Township was appreciated and pleasure they had working with him for the past 12 years.
Warm coats donated to Tri-City Angel
We are excited to report the first donations of coats have been dropped off at the Record to kick off our Warm Winter Clothing drive. Thank you to the angels that dropped these off. You will be blessed in very big ways! What an encouragement to see how quickly people jump in to help someone in need. That is what makes our Tri-City communities so special.
We are still in need of many more new (or very gently used) coats, mittens, gloves, hats and boots in any sizes. If you would like to help keep our Tri-City youth warm this winter, please drop off your items at the Tri-City Record. We will be collecting these through the end of November. Make sure you get in on this very special project!
There have also been some inquiries about the angel tree. I am happy to announce, we are going to do an angel tree. In the next couple of weeks, we will get the tree up and get it filled with tags of gift ideas to help some local families with Christmas gifts. We want to make sure every child is able to enjoy the Christmas holiday. More information will be coming soon.
Thank you to those that are joining in this effort to show there is still goodness and kindness alive and well in the Tri- City communities.
Feel free to write in to the Tri-City Record Angel at PO Box 7, Watervliet, MI 49098 or e-mail at record@tricityrecord.com with any ideas, suggestions, talents you would like to share, etc. Make sure to put it to the attention of Tri-City Angel. We look forward to hearing from you.
