Making sense of uncertain times

The last two weeks in American politics have been unlike anything our country has seen in modern times.

On July 13, we witnessed former president and current Republican nominee, Donald Trump miraculously survive a would-be assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania. This massive security failure is unacceptable, which is why I called for the resignation of Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle.

In the wake all this, the Republican Party unified after a very successful convention in Milwaukee, last week. I then joined President Trump, Senator JD Vance, and fellow Republicans for a packed house rally at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids. I was honored to be recognized by President Trump for my work to make Southwest Michigan a more affordable and even better place to call home.

On Sunday, President Biden announced he was dropping his bid for reelection in 2024 and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for President.

As border czar, Vice President Harris allowed 10 million individuals to illegally enter the United States. Just as concerning, Harris also supported the failed economic policies that have created an affordability crisis for millions across America.

As I write this on Monday, we must ask why we have only seen a written statement and not the President himself.

As proven by the GOP Convention and rally last weekend, Republicans are united behind President Trump and Senator Vance as well as the policies they support to secure our border, make life more affordable, and generate opportunity and prosperity for Americans across all walks of life.

While we are certainly in unparalleled times, I continue to believe that America’s best days are ahead of her, and I will not stop fighting for Southwest Michigan.
