Marion Duane (Wayne) Brewer, 68, of Coloma, joined his loving wife in heaven on Jan. 8, 2024 after battling a long illness.
He was born in Benton Harbor on Feb. 25, 1955 to Chester and Madie (Adair) Brewer. Wayne married the love of his life, Betty Jewel Brewer, on March 13, 1976 when he was 22 years old, at Betty’s parents’ house in Sister Lakes.
He cherished his time with his family and was a wonderful father to Lisa Marie (Sherburn) O’Brien, David Lewis Sherburn, Kristy Lynn (Brewer) Horn, and Duane Alan Brewer, and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren later in life. His family was the most important thing to him, and he was always there to support his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephew.
He was employed at Lane Automotive for over 25 years as a large parts delivery driver which took him to all parts of the tri-state area. His personality and friendly demeanor allowed him to make strong friendships with many of his customers.
Wayne had a love of all things fast and was an avid car and race enthusiast his entire life. Earlier in life he built engines and raced cars at various speedways and was a regular spectator and sponsor through his BrewCrew enterprise after. He loved muscle and classic cars and loved collecting and going to car shows. He and Betty also loved to spend time outside in the sun and would take trips to Florida whenever possible. You could always find him watching sports or enjoying a show on the History Channel.
He is survived by his children, Lisa Marie (John) O’Brien of New Smyrna Beach, , David Lewis (Juliet) Sherburn of Coloma, FL, Kristy Lynn (James) Horn of Stevensville, and Duane Allen Brewer of Coloma; grandchildren, Ryan David Serafine, Marissa Jewel Sherburn, Shane Ever Sherburn, and Jolie Jewel Walker; brother-in-law and best friend, Charles Whorton of Eau Claire; sister-in-law, Earlene (Bell) Whorton; and his nieces and nephew, Shannon Whorton of Powder Springs, GA, Kristina Whorton of Eau Claire, and Daniel Whorton of Watervliet.
