If you come to visit Sarett in the next few weeks, you will pass by a large, charred tract of land near the Prairie Loop, Sassafras Lane, and Red Fox Run trails. Sarett’s prairie ecosystem recently underwent a controlled burn done by a professional burn crew. Managed prairies (naturally occurring “wild” prairies are rare now) are periodically burned to maintain the health of the ecosystem.
