The dormancy of winter is ending for most of us with many warm days on the horizon. Seeds will begin germinating and sending up shoots out of the ground. We may wonder why the cold, seemingly lifeless months of winter are necessary in our climate. It may seem like nothing is going on in nature, but some plants and their seeds actually require the changes of winter to start growing.
