North Berrien Historical Museum announces their Holiday Open House contest winners for 2023

Honor Credit Union People’s Ch Watervliet District Library St
On the weekend of Dec. 8–10, 2023, the North Berrien Historical Museum in Coloma hosted its annual Holiday Open House. A total of 30 trees decorated by community businesses, organizations, and individuals were on display for visitors to determine the winners of the People’s Choice award for the Holiday Tree Decorating Contest.
Honor Credit Union took first place in the People’s Choice with a Barbie-theme tree. HOPE Resources secured second place, while Sarett Nature Center claimed third place.
In the following weeks, students from Coloma, Countryside Academy, and Watervliet elementary schools visited the museum. These students learned the history of the Christmas tree, decorated gingerbread houses, and toured the holiday decor, voting on their three favorite trees for the Students’ Choice award. In this category, Watervliet District Library took first place with a wonderful representation of the Home Alone films. Honor Credit Union claimed second place, and Countryside Academy took third.
Two other contests took place as part of Holiday Open House this year. The winner of the second annual Chili Cook-Off was Denise Crockett, with Sheila Schultz receiving runner-up. The top three contestants in the Gingerbread House Decorating Contest were, from first to third: Seth Corwin, Lanie Strawbridge, and Natalie Strawbridge.
