Many click baits appearing in my email inbox will have a few things in common with every other invitation to buy something. It will appeal to fear or to some perceived inadequacy. There is always something new to fear, and there are sufficient inadequate-feeling people that enough of them can be motivated to spend money in order to fix whatever the issue.
