Officers Sherene and Prince honored for their many years of service to Watervliet Police Department

The latest Watervliet city commission meeting opened on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, with a concern from a resident regarding deteriorating road conditions on the east side of Summit Street. The resident noted that heavy truck and bus traffic has begun to break up the roadway, raising concerns about safety and maintenance needs.

Commissioners later approved the March budget, which included $138,187.80 in accounts payable and $71,887.90 in payroll, for a total of $210,075.70.

The meeting also included recognition of two longtime members of the police department. Retirement plaques were presented to Patrolman Michael Prince for 19 years of service and Patrolman Charles Sherene for 20 years of service.
