Pink Toilet Time Outs for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, now with “Minute to Win It” challenges
Berrien County Cancer Service (BCCS) will host its annual Pink Toilet Time Outs fundraiser on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Watermark Brewing Company, 5781 St. Joseph Avenue in Stevensville, as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Presented by The Batalis Agency Farm Bureau Insurance, the event pairs stand-up comedy, community, and a little bit of bathroom humor with a serious purpose: raising money to support cancer patients right here in Berrien County.
The concept is exactly what it sounds like. Attendees pay a minimum $30 donation to claim a pink seat on the stage (a decorated toilet); the price includes a drink from Watermark Brewing Company.
Comedian Zaq Weaver works the room throughout the night, needling guests into plunging and flushing a little deeper for the cause. It’s silly by design. The money it raises is not.
“This event has never taken itself too seriously, and that’s exactly why people keep coming back,” said Tyanna Essig, President/CEO of BCCS. “Cancer is heavy enough. For one night, we get to laugh together, sit on a painted toilet, and still walk away knowing we did something real for a neighbor going through treatment.”
Pink Toilet Time Outs began in 2017, started by City Plumbing and Heating in memory of the family’s matriarch, who died of breast cancer.
The event paused during the COVID-19 pandemic, and BCCS revived it in 2023.
This year, BCCS is introducing Minute to Win It–style challenges to the evening, with the losing team choosing who takes the next “time out” on a pink throne. Organizers are seeking teams eager to work together, to challenge others, and eager to take on a fun challenge for a good cause. The cost for a team of four is $100.
Funds raised through Pink Toilet Time Outs directly support BCCS programs for people facing a cancer diagnosis in Berrien County, including in home nursing, wellness activities, and nutrition assistance for patients in treatment.
