Press Box Player of the Week: Ellie Galvan

Ellie Galvan, a senior at Hartford High School, and a member of the Hartford Lady Husky volleyball team this fall, is the Oct. 5, 2023 Tri-City Record Press Box Player of the Week.

Ellie was nominated for the honor this week, because she has had a solid season for a Hartford team that has experienced a roller-coaster of emotions, but also has a group of ladies that are working extremely hard to be successful and improve each match. There are six players that can be on the court at one time and each position is different on how it is attacked. Making it even more imposing is the fact that the Lady Huskies are not a very deep team this fall, with just eight players on the varsity roster. Ellie has played a valuable leadership role that cannot be understated.

In addition to volleyball, Ellie also participates in soccer in the spring. She has been playing the sport for over a decade and her hard work on the pitch over that time frame has proven to be successful. On an individual basis, she was a captain for the team last year and has been named a first-team selection in the Southwest 10 Conference in each of the past two seasons. She’s also played an integral role in the team’s on-and-off success over the past three years and is part of a program that has been a conference champion during her time in high school.

Off of the soccer pitch and volleyball court, Ellie concentrates on her studies in the classroom and is a model of the term ‘student-athlete.’ At Hartford High School she’s been featured on the Honor Roll and was named a ‘Student of the Week’ last March. She also takes classes at Kalamazoo Valley Community College and received Academic Honors for Winter 2023.

Congratulations on this great honor, Ellie! We congratulate you on your achievements during the volleyball season thus far and look forward to what you and your teammates can accomplish the remainder of the year!
