Pressing on

Jesus being sentenced to crucifixion meant He had enemies. The Pharisees, local leaders whose power was threatened by Jesus’ popularity and by His teaching, filled that role from early in Jesus’ public ministry. Matthew 9 shows Jesus dealing with various forms of opposition. Bottom line, He kept on task, continuing compassionately caring for those who came to Him for help. He sometimes confronted the opposition with recalibration and with new opportunities for understanding.
